Sweating for Good Cause

This past weekend was a scorcer by North Idaho standards and for the thousands of people who enjoyed Art on the Green, Taste of the Coeur d'Alenes, and the Downtown Street Fair, we need to give a shout-out to some unsung heroes ... the many volunteers who manned service club and non-profit booths for three days really went the extra mile. Pictured in the Citizens Commission on the Arts grilled chicken booth, Chief Wayne Longo, Cd'A Councilman Mike Kennedy, and Ken Roberge taking a shift of “chicken flipping." If it was 95 degrees in the shade, the temperature over the grills was well beyond the century mark. Mike and Sally Dodge spent the better part of three days orchastrating the Commission's volunteers who included Anne Solomon and Sen. John Goedde. Multiply their efforts by dozens of booths and it's easy to see there's no shortage of dedicated volunteers who willingly gave up time on a summer's weekend for good causes. Thanks to Don Sausser for the photo!
