A favorite North Idaho pastime is the picking of huckleberries. Carl and Genie Riegert of Post Falls had a successful outting on Fernan Saddle this past weekend and have the purple fingers to prove it! Huckleberries sell for about $50 a gallon, hence the nickname "purple gold." Important to note that bears love huckleberries as much as we do!

Purple "Gold"
